When using source separation systems, consistency is key. By having different coloured buckets/bins to indicate different streams throughout the whole site, students, staff and visitors are able to clearly identify the necessary bin from a distance.
Signs are also vital to have on or above bins/buckets, as they explain the variety of items that can go into that stream. They are also a good visual reminder for people who are new to the school, speak English as a second or other language or those who are more visually orientated.

Below are examples of source separation streams that work well at various pre/school sites.
