What is Nude Food?
Nude Food is food without excess packaging. This reduces the amount of 'stuff' that needs to go in bins to be sent to landfill. Less to Landfill Challenge
The challenge is to reduce the material that a class sends to landfill each day to one mini wheelie bin (300ml) or less! (It can be done). It may be one class at your site or several. Fore more information visit the Less to Landfill page.
Conduct a pre-challenge bin audit
Choose a day before starting the Nude Food challenge, and ask your students to keep their packaging from recess and lunch. Use the Wipe out Waste DIY audit kit to audit the packaging into different categories. Keep a tally of the number of items collected. Students could also take photos as a visual representation, and take comparison photos of food choices and packaging on Nude Food days.
A Tale of Two Lunchboxes
This resource aims to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of Nude Food. Students consider their packaging choices, and how these impact on the environment.
